Has UPSC Prelims 2021 Postponed? Yes! The nation has been witnessing the 2nd wave of the COVID – 19 Pandemic. Now the 3rd wave has started impacting millions of lives. UPSC CSE (Preliminary) Examination 2021, scheduled to be held on Jun 27, 2021 is postponed in view of the upcoming 3rd wave of the Pandemic.

The examination will be held on October 10, 2021 if everything seems to be under control. The decision was taken by UPSC due to the Prevailing conditions caused by the ongoing Pandemic.

The entire nation is passing through an intensely stressful environment. COVID – 19 is a highly contagious virus that is affecting the normal life of people in very extraordinary manners. Amid the pandemic, aspirants raised concerns about their health and have been demanding UPSC to reschedule the examination.

UPSC Prelims 2021 Postponed ?

Why should UPSC Prelims 2021 be Postponed?

The commission has rightly postponed the UPSC CSE Prelims 2021. The step was taken as a precautionary measure. The number of COVID – 19 cases has been increasing exponentially. The country is facing an oxygen crisis along with Nation or State-wise lockdowns. Many cities are put at complete lockdown disrupting the essential supply like – food, water, and even medications. Aspirants who are preparing outside their home have to manage all household activities in their study time.

As per the central advisory or State mandates, many coaching centers have put their offline classes closed. They are conducting online classes which have no tantamount productivity in the backward and remote areas. Bookshops and libraries are also closed as per the administrative instructions from the locality.

What if, UPSC Prelims was not Postponed?

Upsurge in death tolls and cases of the coronavirus is a matter of grave concern. Nearly, 8 to 9 lakh students appear in the CSE prelims per year, and conducting exams on earlier scheduled time would affect their health negatively. We should not forget that COVID – 19 is a highly deadly virus. It could have affected such a large number of aspirants during the travel, at the entry point, or in the exam hall.

Many aspirants have not been getting a level playing field as some of them are fighting for lives in hospitals, many of them are stressed as their family members are laying on the hospital beds. Students are also stressed and apprehended about their health and well-being of their loved ones. More serious and dedicated aspirants are ignoring their health for the study which can have a fatal outcome if not taken care of immediately.

Aspirants are also facing a number of difficulties at this time as there is a retardation in the supply of essential services at their locations. They can not come out of the room, they have to suffer to meet their basic human needs. If the exam was held on 27 JUN, 2021 it would have prejudicially impacted the feelings and sentiments of the aspirants.

The exam is postponed and rescheduled for October 10, 2021. the admit card that was expected to be released on the UPSC website by the second week of June would no be released for now.
